International clients

Legal help for foreign nationals in Spain

If you are a foreign national who has suffered a road traffic accident or been affected by medical negligence while visiting or living in Spain, navigating a Spanish legal claim from abroad, or without fluent Spanish, can feel daunting — but you are entitled to exactly the same compensation as a Spanish national, under exactly the same law.

We have represented international clients on numerous occasions, both road traffic accident victims and medical negligence victims, and we regularly continue that representation after clients have returned to their home country. Cases are followed up by phone, video call and email, so your physical location does not need to slow down your claim.

Whether you are on holiday, working in Spain, living here as a resident, or have already gone back home, we can study your case, explain your options clearly, and act on your behalf under Spanish law — on the same No Win, No Fee basis as for any of our clients.

«Defending the victims of accidents and negligence means fighting for social justice and for people's dignity. No amount of money can make up for pain or loss. The maximum compensation is the very least I want for my clients.»

Frequently asked questions

Here we answer some of the questions we are asked most often by clients abroad.

Can I claim compensation for medical negligence in Spain as a foreign national?

Yes. Spanish law does not require Spanish nationality or residency to bring a medical negligence claim. If the negligence occurred in Spain — whether you were visiting, working or living here — you are entitled to the same compensation as a Spanish national. We have represented foreign clients in medical negligence claims on several occasions, including cases where the client had already returned to their home country.

How much compensation can I claim for medical negligence in Spain?

There is no fixed amount: compensation for medical negligence is assessed individually in every case, taking into account the injuries, after-effects, recovery time, financial losses and, in the most serious cases, future care needs. Spain's official compensation scale for road traffic accidents does not automatically apply to medical negligence, but it is commonly used as a reference. We can give you a realistic estimate once we have reviewed your medical records.

Can I claim compensation for an accident in Spain as a foreign national?

Yes. The same applies to road traffic accidents, workplace accidents and catastrophic injuries: if the accident happened in Spain, you are entitled to the same compensation as a Spanish national, regardless of your nationality or where you live now. We have represented foreign clients in accident claims on numerous occasions, keeping in touch by phone, video call and email once they have returned home.

How much compensation can I claim for an accident in Spain?

As with medical negligence, there is no fixed amount: compensation for a road traffic accident, workplace accident or catastrophic injury is assessed individually, based on the injuries, after-effects, recovery time and financial losses. Spain has an official compensation scale that sets out how these amounts are calculated. We can give you a realistic estimate once we have reviewed your case.

Do you have lawyers in Barcelona, Ibiza and Cádiz?

Yes. We have offices in Barcelona, Ibiza and El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz), and from there we handle cases throughout Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, Andalusia and the rest of Spain.

Do I need to be in Spain, or travel to Spain, to make a claim?

Not usually. We can hold meetings by phone or video call, and handle documents electronically, whether you are still in Spain or have already returned to your home country. If a hearing or a specific step genuinely requires your presence, we will tell you in advance.

How much do you charge?

We work on a No Win, No Fee basis for our success fee: we only charge if you receive compensation. In medical negligence cases, independent expert reports may involve a separate cost, which we will always explain before you incur it.
